STIAN CARSTENSEN accordion, various GIANI LINCAN cimbalom FILIP SIMEONOV clarinet OLE MORTEN VÅGAN double bass
Farmers Market general and world-class accordion player Stian Carstensen raves about the best the Balkans has to offer in Giani Lincan - perhaps the best in the galaxy on the cimbalom, compact ancestor of the piano, where the musician himself strikes the hammer against the strings. From Bulgaria comes the clarinet legend Fekata, a professional musician since he was 11, and is a musical encyclopedia whether it is Greek, Macedonian, Romanian, Turkish or Arabic music on stage. Superb bassist Ole Morten Vågan (Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Motif, Bugge Wesseltoft) ties it all together in just the right respectful mix of wild spontaneity and deep traditions.
