There is no doubt that the wind blew Dag Arnesen's way. The seventy-year-old has brought the Norwegian folk music tradition abroad to an international jazz audience in a way that only Jan Johansson can match in Scandinavia. At the same time, he has been the one who has a watchful eye for new talent.
Ny Bris - which broke through in the early eighties - still has cult status in Bergen, and it was a springboard for a new generation of musicians. On stage, he is the listener, always ready to respond to input from fellow musicians, and - best of all - always ready to give new talent the spotlight. 40 years after his debut, he does it again! Ny Bris is back in a brand new ensemble with a background from the Grieg Academy in Bergen - and a youth source for a pianist who sounds young and vital like never before!
