Regarded as one of the most important alto saxophonists of his generation, and at the same time a musician who will make the audience want to jump up and dance at his concerts, Kenny Garrett received his "education" in the Duke Ellington Orchestra and with Miles Davis, later he won a Grammy with Chic Corea and John McLaughlin and was awarded an honorary doctorate at Berkeley. He has had a successful solo career, his latest work named 'Sounds from the Ancestors', where he is inspired by everyone from Aretha Franklin and James Brown to Sly Stone and Marvin Gaye. And of course John Coltrane. The sound of jazz, gospel and Detroit all in one!
